This course is designed to build on your existing printmaking skills and to improve and develop your studio-based work. The tutor will provide strategies to stretch and challenge you as a printmaker. You will be supported to explore and develop your own ideas; work on self-initiated personal projects or optional tutor-led projects. You will also be supported with the development of your professional and creative practice including exhibiting work or improving research and ideas development.

This course will enable you to explore various printmaking processes such as monotype, drypoint, collagraphs, linocut and etching. All basic materials provided.

You will learn about and use a wide range of printmaking processes to produce your own original prints, including mono printing, etching, lino printing, dry point, soft-ground etching aquatint, and collagraph printing. You will begin to use a range of printmaking techniques to generate immediate creative results, extend your skills and develop your own ideas. New starters are welcome at any time of year and more experienced learner can pursue their own projects.

The artist, Rembrandt had just three techniques for printmaking: dry point; hard ground and soft ground. We now have around 20 techniques which can be used in combination. These include lift grounds, photo etching and transfers.
