This course is an exciting opportunity to learn and experiment with different casting techniques used in jewellery making, which will enable you to create small batches of identical objects, as well as unique, one-off pieces. The course will allow you to design and make finished jewellery pieces incorporating cast elements. All basic materials and equipment provided, including sheet metal.

This flexible course is structured to address practical and creative needs of individuals who would like to learn to improve and enhance jewellery-making techniques, whilst developing design ideas and explore how jewellery relates to the body. You will practice a range of practical making techniques and you will be encouraged to develop your creativity and your own distinctive design style. Enamelling is an ancient technique first used by the Chinese, Greeks and Egyptians, fusing glass to metal to decorate and add colour to jewellery and other precious objects. This two-day workshop will teach you how to prepare and clean copper,and then using vitreous enamels you will dry sift and wet pack your designs onto copper discs and fire in a kiln to produce a range of jewellery pieces, which you will then clean and polish. All basic materials and equipment provided.

This course is for anyone who would like to make jewellery and small sculptural objects using silver, copper and brass. You will learn a range of techniques including forming metal sheet (anti-clastic raising, fold forming and repousse), fabrication (soldering, riveting and bezel setting with prongs) and forging. Beginners and Intermediate learners can follow set projects whilst Intermediate and advanced learners will be encouraged to explore their own ideas through self-initiated projects.

This course is designed to develop your existing skills and practice by offering strategies to improve your design, research and studio-based work. There will be optional termly projects which can be used as a basis for developing work. You will also be supported and encouraged to explore and develop your own ideas and work on self-initiated personal projects. As a maker, the tutor can also advise on all aspects of your professional and creative development.

Jewellery metalwork and silver smithing techniques will be taught and supported in this class. Class projects will be provided and offered with structured tution. More experienced learners are encouraged to work on their own self directed projects . Your tutor will support your development in both your technical and design skills.Basic materials are included in the fee.
