Digital Marketing & Social Media Content Creation

Course Description

This course will help you develop skills in digital marketing for future employment or to help boost your own business. You will look primarily at social media platforms used to generate brand awareness such as Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Twitter and LinkedIn, and gain an understanding of what content works best on each platform.

Course Requirements

To get the most out of the course you will need some confidence with computers and a smartphone. The course will be taught on Macs and part of the teaching will be to help you better understand and navigate MACOSX. You will also need to complete an individual learning plan.

Course Content

During this course you’ll gain an understanding of social media content creation (written content, short form videos, photography and graphics). This will help you develop an online marketing strategy to advertise products and services to targeted audiences. The course will also explore how you can use social media to network with potential clients and reach a wider audience. You will also learn about wider digital marketing strategies that include paid for advertising, use of influencers, email marketing and SEO (search engine optimisation).

Teaching and Learning Methods

You will learn through, practical activities, group exercises and peer assessment, listening and analysis, demonstration and discussion, use of supporting online materials, individual practice, use of ILT and continuous assessment. There is no homework associated with the sessions but please do discuss extension activities with your tutor.

Assessment

You will be continually assessed through your practical activities and will receive feedback in a variety of ways such as peer assessment, verbal and written feedback from your teacher. This is a non-accredited course but a certificate of completion can be provided by the College on request.

Teachers are supported to ensure their materials are inclusive to meet all learners needs. Provision of assistive equipment is available and access support can be provided through reasonable adjustments, subject to an assessment by the ALS team and/or the Disability Officer. Digital Learning support is available in the Learning Centre at our Camden site. Careers advice and guidance is also available to all learners.
