Adobe Premiere Pro: Editing Video - Beginner/Mixed Level

Course Description

On this hands-on course, you will learn the art of storytelling through video editing. Via a combination of lectures, examples and hands-on software practice, learners will gain knowledge of the work of an editor, post-production workflow and various editing styles. Learn how to manage your media and gain the technical expertise necessary when taking video projects from start to finish.

Course Requirements

You will need to know how to use a digital camera to capture video at beginners' level and be comfortable working on a computer, having basic IT skills. The course will be taught on Macs and part of the teaching will be to help you better understand and navigate MACOSX. You will also need to complete an individual learning plan.

Course Content

You will be using video editing software to produce a short project. You will then be able to take your videos to the next level using audio, transitions, sound effects and titles. The course also includes media management, project organisation and understanding industry terminology. Students enrolled on Creative Digital Media courses at WM College can benefit from a genrous discount on all Adobe Creative Cloud applications. You tutor will explain more.

Teaching and Learning Methods

You will learn through, practical activities, group exercises and peer assessment, listening and analysis, demonstration and discussion, use of supporting online materials, individual practice, use of ILT and continuous assessment. There is no homework associated with the sessions, but please do discuss extension activities with your tutor.

Assessment

You will be continually assessed through your practical activities and will receive feedback in a variety of ways such as peer assessment, verbal and written feedback from your teacher. This is a non-accredited course, but a certificate of completion can be provided by the College on request.

Additional Learning Support

Teachers are supported to ensure their materials are inclusive to meet learners’ needs. Provision of assistive equipment is available and access support can be provided through reasonable adjustments, subject to an interview with the ALS team and/or the Disability Officer. Digital Learning support is available in the Learning Centre at our Camden site. Careers and employability advice and guidance is also available to all learners.
