Gentle Tai Chi Qi Gong

Course Description

Re-boot and re-balance to your body, mind, and spirit! Tai Chi and Qi Gong are ancient Chinese martial arts that bring about personal transformation through movement, breath and meditation. Suitable for all levels of experience, the exercises are beneficial for the beginner and will work on a deeper level for those with more experience. The classes are based around gentle, rhythmic movements that get under the radar to soften, de-stress and enhance your wellbeing. Feel great. Release stress. Cultivate stillness.

Course Requirements

No previous experience is necessary. This course is mixed ability and suitable for all ages and experience. Tai Chi / Qi Gong is a gentle activity, however, learners with specific health problems should obtain their doctor's permission to attend classes and inform the tutor during the first session. Wear loose comfortable clothing and flat soft shoes. Practice between sessions is encouraged.

Course Content

You will learn and practice gentle warming up, and be guided through relaxation sequences. By the end of this course, learners have increased body awareness, increased strength, flexibility, body alignment and balance and a better understanding of their own physical capacities and limitations. The ability to focus and concentrate the mind will increase and you will acheive an introduction level understanding of philosophical principles of tai chi/ Qi Gong

Assessment

Continuous assessment and verbal feedback will be given throughout the term in a constructive and supportive way. There is no qualification with this course.

Each learner will spend time talking through their next steps and options with the course teacher. You will be able to develop your skills further on another of our well-being courses and your teacher may also help you to explore other suitable college courses.

Additional Learning Support

Teachers are supported to ensure their materials are inclusive to meet all learners needs. Provision of assistive equipment is available and access support can be provided through reasonable adjustments, subject to an assessment by the ALS team and/or the Disability Officer. Digital Learning support is available in the Learning Centre at our Camden site. Careers advice and guidance is also available to all learners.
