Acting & Drama Workshop

Course Description

On this course, you will benefit from a fun and relaxed approach to acting and drama at a pace that suits individual level and need. The course is for those starting to develop the skills required to engage in acting and drama, such as, collaboration and participation; play/sight-reading skills; responses and reactions; timing; and developing physical, vocal, spatial awareness. There will be a focus on improvisation and confidence building (see Course Content).

Course Requirements

There are no requirements for this course except the completion of an Individual Learning Plan.

Course Content

This will be decided at the start of each course, but typically each session will involve learners choosing a different topic as the basis for the day’s improvisation work. It will involve starting with a general discussion around content and the chosen topic. It will then move on to group work games and warm-ups, leading to improvisation on the chosen topic. This will be followed by play reading where relevant, and discussion and feedback.

Teaching and Learning Methods

You will learn through, practical activities, group exercises and peer assessment, listening and analysis, demonstration and discussion, use of supporting online materials, individual practice, use of ILT and continuous assessment. There is no homework associated with the sessions but please do discuss extension activities with your tutor.

Assessment

You will be continually assessed through your practical activities and will receive feedback in a variety of ways such as peer assessment, verbal and written feedback from your teacher. This is a non-accredited course but a certificate of completion can be provided by the College on request.

Additional Learning Support

Teachers are supported to ensure their materials are inclusive to meet all learners needs. Provision of assistive equipment is available and access support can be provided through reasonable adjustments, subject to an assessment by the ALS team and/or the Disability Officer. Digital Learning support is available in the Learning Centre at our Camden site. Careers advice and guidance is also available to all learners.
