In this course, you will learn how to create a variety of digital documents in Microsoft 365, how to use Microsoft OneDrive professionally to share your documents and store them safely, and how to create and organise your files and folders. In addition, you will learn how to communicate online using Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Outlook.

Who is this course for and what will I learn?
You should be able to turn on a device, use a keyboard and mouse confidently, and go online safely.
The course will develop your basic digital skills and focus on developing your confidence with Microsoft 365 applications. You will learn the basic features of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook on Microsoft 365. You will also become familiar with the OneDrive storage system and with video calls using Teams. Depending on your starting points, we will work our way up to accomplishing more complex procedures.
How will I learn?
The course will be delivered using a range of teaching and learning methods which include demonstrations, group work, quizzes, independent work online from home and homework. Learning will take place mainly onsite (in the classroom) and also online (from home). In addition to the classes, you will be expected to do some additional work between sessions to consolidate and extend your learning.
Assessment and next steps
There is no exam or formal assessment for this course. However, you will complete an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) which will outline the learning objectives for the course. You will also be invited to set your own goals. You will receive feedback against the achievement of these outcomes during the course from your tutor and in written form at the end of the course. There is no formal qualification attached to this course, but you can receive a Certificate of Completion from the college on request.
Once you have completed the course you may choose to enroll on: Essential Digital Skills Qualification Entry 3, Computer Skills for Improvers Plus, Computer Skills Intermediate Level, Microsoft Excel: Intermediate. Advice and Guidance for all further study is available from the Curriculum Manager by request.
