Covid 19 and News from the Principal

Welcome back! Enrolments are continuing for courses that start in January and we encourage you to enrol soon to ensure you secure a place on your chosen courses.

Covid-19

Our priority is to keep our learners and staff safe while continuing to deliver our courses face-to-face and provide access to learning facilities.  Following the latest government guidance, the following rules apply in the College:

  • Face coverings must be worn at all times in the College, including in classrooms and workshops, unless you have a medical exemption.
  • You should take a Lateral Flow Device Test the evening before your first day in College and keep using a Lateral Flow Device Test kit at home at least twice per week.
  • You must not attend College if:
    • you have no symptoms but are awaiting a test result or
    • you have tested positive for Coronavirus and are still in the isolation period

From 17 January, if you have Covid and then test “negative” on both day 5 and day 6 of your isolation period, you may return to College on day 6.  If you still have a raised temperature or one of your LFD test results is positive, you must continue to isolate until you have 2 negative test results on consecutive days or come to the end of the 10 day period.

  • you have been advised or instructed to self-isolate by the government’s Test and Trace system.

If someone in your household has Covid-19, or is isolating because they are a close contact of someone with Covid-19, then you may still attend College if you are fully vaccinated, or medically exempt, and you have no Covid symptoms.  You must take LFD tests every day for 7 days and immediately start to isolate if any of the tests gives a “positive” result.  If you are not fully vaccinated, you must self-isolate for the full 10-day period.

Please continue to observe high standards of hygiene, maintain distances and avoid contact with other people as much as possible.

The best protection for you and the whole college community against Covid-19 is to have the vaccination and booster against the virus.  We strongly encourage you to get these, if you have not done so already.
