The course offers a gentle introduction to Salsa which is a Latin dance style that is popular around the world. You dance with a partner which makes the experience more sociable and enjoyable. However, there is no need to have a regular partner which helps the social element of Salsa. The course will also aid wellbeing and fitness.
The course is for beginners and those with some experience of Salsa and other dance disciplines. You will also be expected to complete an Individual Learning Plan to help support your progress.
You also need to bring appropriate clothing e.g. shoes that do not slip and comfortable, light clothing.
You will learn dance moves with a partner that are based upon specific steps. Typically, dance teachers describe the Salsa rhythm as quick, quick, slow. The course will also familiarise you with the musical style of Salsa that will form the accompaniment for the dance routines.
Please note: although you will be introduced to all the above over a single course (5 - weeks), the sessions are developmental over the whole year. If you sign up for the full set of courses at the start of the academic year e.g. August / September you will be entitled to the early bird discount.
