Intermediate Spanish pt1 (B1)

Course Description

This lively communicative course for independent users of the Spanish language will further develop and consolidate your skills and will help build up your confidence to speak Spanish in a range of situations, developing pronunciation and fluency. You will practice your speaking and listening skills in more formal situations. On completion of this course, you can progress onto Intermediate Spanish pt2 (B1).

Course Content

During this course learners will consolidate previous knowledge of the language by working on sentence structures. You will improve your listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. You will practice good pronunciation through studying culture, politics and songs. By the end of the course you will be able to express opinions and debate, talk about similarities and differences between people, recommend places and activities, plan a cultural trip to a Spanish speaking city, talk and narrate past events.

Teaching and Learning Methods

In this course you will be actively learning Spanish through a variety of interactive classroom activities, in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. You will work in pairs/small groups to practice speaking and listening, with worksheets and activities to develop your reading and writing. Learning will be enriched through the use of audio-visual aids, realia (authentic material), online interactive resources, and role play.
Resources used within each lesson are available for learners on our online learning platform, Google Classroom.

Independent Learning

The skills you are learning should be practiced outside college in order to develop and progress. Homework is set every week and is an essential part of your course.

Assessment

Assessment is continuous and will take place throughout the course.
The tutor will give you feedback on your speaking in class, and mark your written work. During the course, you will set up an individual learning plan, where you will reflect on your progress and set your own targets.

Qualification you will achieve

There is no formal qualification attached to this course but you can receive a Certificate of Completion from the college on request.

Additional Learning Support

Teachers are supported to ensure their materials are inclusive to meet all learners needs. Provision of assistive equipment is available and access support can be provided through reasonable adjustments, subject to an assessment by the ALS team and/or the Disability Officer. Digital Learning support is available in the Learning Centre at our Camden site. Careers advice and guidance is also available to all learners.
