WMC Learners join in EU Referendum Debate with Key Speakers

Learners and staff at WMC-The Camden College took part in an informative debate about the EU referendum last week.

Chaired by Helen Hammond, Principal of WMC-The Camden College with special guest Keir Starmer, Labour MP for Holborn and St. Pancras, learners and staff at the College filled the hall to listen to the ‘remain’ campaign information.

Keir provided a convincing campaign for the ‘remain’ camp demonstrating how staying in the EU will be beneficially for the current and the next generation in regards to employment, business opportunities, EU criminal justice measures, human rights, healthcare plus much more.

Learners at WMC put forward a number of questions about their opinions and concerns on the EU Referendum such as immigration, free movement, and human rights.

The resulting vote was in a majority to remain in the EU.

Unfortunately the ‘leave’ campaign candidate, Tom Hunt, was unable to make the debate and suspended the campaign in light of the incident in Yorkshire with Jo Cox.
