Make Music Day – Ukulele for Everyone

In celebration of Make Music Day 2023, Working Men’s College are running a one-off ukulele class and everyone is invited. You will learn some basics of the instrument and work towards performing a popular song. You can even sing along if you like!

Performing Arts Summer Show

Join us for an evening of entertainment from our learners studying Performing Arts at WM College. Featuring performances from:

    • Tuesday July 4th 2023 features performances from learners in Acting and Drama, Performance Poetry and Stand Up Comedy
    • Wednesday July 5th 2023 features performances from learners in Singing, the Choir, Classical Guitar and Blues, Country and Jazz Guitar
    • Thursday July 6th 2023 features performances from learners in a variety of ensembles including: Pop Band, Jazz Band, Blues Band, Latin Percussion and Level 1 Music
The shows run between 6.30pm and 9pm in the Maurice Hall. All welcome.

For the first time in Performing Arts at WMC, we will be awarding Lowes Dickinson Awards to learners in Performing Arts. Categories include:
  • Most ‘Generous’ Learner (who has worked most collaboratively and supported others)
  • Distance Travelled (who has made the most progress)
  • Most collaborative group working

Come along and support the events and celebrate the achievements of all learners in Performing Arts

Camden Art Walk

Camden has long been a powerhouse of arts and culture as well as the place that many artists have called home. Step into the new year on a cultural footing with this fascinating walking tour of the sights and spaces of artistic Camden. Your guide is Sabine Casparie, an art historian and Camden local. This free-of-charge art walk offers you the chance to sample our Art History programme of unique courses devised especially for the historic Working Men’s College, which has a strong tradition of arts education and is the oldest surviving adult education institute in Europe. The walk begins at our main college building on Crowndale Road.

Art, Food and Culture – A Taster

Food’s appearance in art dates back millennia and has since assumed many different connotations, from symbolic and magical to political and even subversive. Starting with a taste of some of the most ancient art, including Paleolithic cave paintings and Egyptian sacred art, you will learn about the fascinating relationship between Art, Food and Culture. Come and whet your appetite for art and food with our teacher Giulia Fassone, an Italian visual artist and art history teacher with a background in cuisine.
