African & Caribbean Folklore Day: Celebrating the birthday of Birago Diop

Talk 5 of 5 by Natty Mark Samuels from the African School

We’re pleased to welcome Natty Mark Samuels to host a series of afternoon interactive workshops to celebrate the spiritual significance of the flora of Africa and the Caribbean, part of Rootical Folklore.

For this event Natty Mark Samuels will be celebrating Birago Diop, a Senegalese poet and storyteller whose work restored general interest in African folktales and promoted him to one of the most outstanding African francophone writers.A renowned veterinarian, diplomat and leading voice of the Négritude literary movement, Diop exemplified the “African renaissance man”.
