You will also learn how to use Microsoft Word, Office 365 and OneDrive and will improve your research, reading writing and online safety skills.

Requirements

This course is aimed at learners with mild to moderate learning difficulties and or disabilities, aged 25 and over. No previous knowledge or qualifications are required. You will need an interview before enrolment can take place to ensure your needs can be met and supported appropriately for you to succeed. Please refer to Contact Information below.

You will learn to use your phone cameras to take pictures and edit them using the built-in software. You then learn to use photography equipment including lighting, light boxes, tripods and to use a camera with film, a polaroid camera and digital photography cameras. You will upload your images and videos onto a computer, and use pictures, video and sounds to creatively complete projects using Photoshop and Microsoft Word. You will also develop self-confidence by working in small groups to present information, and you will become more inquisitive about using IT to be creative.

Teaching and Learning

Learners will be supported to develop creative skills in a small group through demonstrations, research of image designs, and creating mood boards and will share ideas and be supported through individual projects. All classes are supported by specialist Additional Learning Support staff, and we ensure teaching is learner-centred and tailored to meet learners’ specific needs.

Assessment

Assessment of learning takes place in a variety of ways, including having your work and creations put on display. You will be assessed throughout the stages of your projects, and you will share your thoughts about your growing skills and knowledge with your teacher. You will receive a personalised Supported Learning WM College certificate that will celebrate your achievements, including your attendance.

Next Steps

Learners spend time talking through their next steps and progression with their teacher and support staff. On completion of your course, you will be able to develop your skills further on another of our Supported Learning courses and or progress onto a mainstream college course, like a beginner’s graphic design or photography. Your teacher will help you to explore all suitable options. However, you will progress at a pace that suits you and your learning needs.
