Performance Poetry Learners Produce Anthology

A recent addition to the broad range of courses on offer at WM College, the performance poetry course has seen learners thrive in developing their own creative writing performance style. The 10 week course introduces learners to the techniques of performing the spoken word that is derived from their own poetry. During their time studying learners explore how the written and spoken word differs, conventions of the spoken word, how to break the rules and how to find their own voice.

To celebrate the creative work developed during the course the group created their own anthology. The anthology features poems written and performed by the learners and is a culmination of 10 weeks working together to build confidence in using poetic techniques and learning new performance skills.

On her student’s achievements, Megan Beech, Performance Poetry Lecturer said:

” The poems created by the students are funny, moving and complex. The contributions made this year have been brilliant and I’m so proud of each learner when I get to see them perform their very own poems in front of an audience.”

Explore our learner’s work below in the anthology ‘Winged Joy – Poems from the Performance Poets at WM College’. If you’re interested in exploring your creative writing skills check out the course here and enrol for January 2022.
