This course will be an introduction to both Drypoint and Carborundum printmaking techniques. Over the course of the 2-day workshop, you will gain working knowledge of both techniques as well as some contextual knowledge of their application. You will be encouraged to use techniques learned to experiment and produce your own unique image(s).

Learn to prepare, etch, and print from a zinc plate using soft or hard ground or a combination of both. Hard ground allows you to work with fine delicate lines; whereas soft ground lets you apply found textures, varied tone and expressive mark making. Bring sketchbook drawings as a starting point.

A 1-day workshop to learn about the use of photosensitive polymer plates that allow you to produce intaglio plates without the use of acid. The course will look at using the photopolymer plates with photos and with direct hand drawing. All basic material is provided, but please bring with you an image you would like to use within the A5 size. If possible, do have the image in a digital format too.

The course will look at using the photopolymer plates with highly contrasted images: stencil type or direct hand drawing. Please note the best results are achieved when working with black and white only, no midtones. All basic material is provided, please bring with you an image in digital format (email or USB stick). We will be working in A5 size.
