Starting from early music to the most recent styles and techniques, you will learn the history, the main techniques and musical elements characterising the music for this fantastic musical instrument through the ages. There will be discussion of videos and various interpretations as well as the to opportunity to learn short pieces for each of the discussed styles. The pieces will be delivered in a way that is appropriate to suit different levels of ability. There is no entry level.

On the first day of this course, you will explore 4 of the main genres of music that have influenced the repertoire of Afro-American music of the 20th Century: Blues, Jazz, Soul and Pop. You will discuss videos and various techniques or interpretations that you will be watching and listening to. You will be asked to perform the songs together to practice the features of each style. On day 2, you will be singing individually, choosing a few songs from the learnt repertoire. There is no entry level.
