This 10-week course starts with gaining more advanced sewing skills including a fly zip, facings, pockets and linings. We will cover couture techniques to take your skills to a higher level of finishing. You will be introduced to stretch fabrics and confidently using an overlock machine before completing a half scale jersey t-shirt. You will gain an understanding of choosing commercial patterns along with fabrics and haberdashery. You will complete a professionally finished lined dress.

In a fun and supportive environment, you will be guided through setting up and using a domestic sewing machine, sewing and construction terminology, useful equipment and fabrics. You will produce a range of sewing samples before moving on to construct a standard size 12 garment which will include darts, pleats, a zip, seam finishes, hemming and a waistband. You will leave with a range of sewing technique samples and a skirt sample.
