This course provides an opportunity to develop your skills and projects with tutor guidance. Learners will undertake a series of structured tasks designed to develop skills in making and decorating. All learners will focus on individual project development working on their own or set briefs, including research and development of ideas.

This course is designed to develop and improve your studio-based work. There will be an emphasis on exploring specialist materials and techniques, including porcelain, paper bodies and other new clays. You will be able to experiment with advanced techniques like printing on clay. You can use class projects as a starting point or work on self-initiated projects. The tutor can also focus on your continuing professional development as a maker and ways that you can develop your practice.

Learn some of the science of glazing and how to mix and alter glazes. The course will focus on making samples to learn the basics.

On this short course, you will be introduced to basic mould-making techniques and understand the possibilities of slip casting. The course is ideal for both beginners or those who have some understanding of ceramic.

A course to explore photographic print techniques for ceramics using silkscreens and photographic gum. The course will enable you to explore the techniques and make samples that you could use later in your own practice. Experimentation encouraged. Basic material provided, but you can bring your own images to work with, which should be about A5 is size.

This course will introduce you to mixing wire and clay together. We will look at contemporary makers that combine these materials and explore possible techniques and outcomes. You will experiment with and create small or medium objects and fire them inside a saggar. Amongst the materials we use are stainless steel, nichrome wire, stoneware, paper clays, nails and cutlery, with firings at low and high temperature. This course will not cover the glazing of work.
