Below you will find details of our Summer School courses available. These are short, one or two day, courses available over the summer months to help you experience the great subjects we have on offer at WMC -The Camden College in London.

On this course you will learn how to produce your own Cyanotype print. Cyanotypes were initially created as an early photographic technique and to reproduce drawings (known as blueprints). Identifiable by their deep Prussian blue colour, Cyanotypes are a fast and effective way to make beautiful prints with limited resources.
You will learn how to mix their own Cyanotype solution and apply it to paper, expose and fix and tint the resulting images. You can also bring in your own images that can be made into Cyanotypes. This is a great opportunity for people interested in painting, collage, photography and print looking to do something original, exciting and fun. All materials provided.
You will gain basic or more advanced working knowledge of the techniques of drypoint etching and chine collé printing as well as some contextual knowledge of their application. You will be encouraged to use techniques learned to experiment and produce your own unique image(s).
• Create ideas and drawings for drypoint etching(s)
• Create a range of patterns and shapes for chine collé
• Design create and print drypoint print(s) using chine collé
• Understand and use the health and safety rules for the print studio
• Evaluate, analyse and discuss the work that has been produced – (In the end of day plenary session)

This course offers you an opportunity to translate your drawing skills into printmaking from a life model.
You will be able to work from the model directly onto etching plates using hard or soft ground techniques, aquatint or draw/paint directly onto acetate sheets to be translated into a photo etching or work directly onto paper. All basic material provided.
An opportunity to try out different print techniques or to focus on and/or finish an existing print project. We have a fully equipped studio with 2 rochat presses and can accommodate etching (soft and hard ground), aquatint, photo etching, drypoint, chine colle and lino cutting. All basic materials are included in the fee.
During this one-day course you will be taught how to use and explore the magic of watercolour painting through traditional and none traditional techniques and skills.
You will learn about how to apply washes, colour mixing, tone, texture and or pattern through carefully designed exercises that will suit both the beginner and the more advanced practitioner/ student.
