Daytime & Evening Printmaking and Etching Courses at WMC-The Camden College

Etching and Photo Etching (Studio Practice)

Rembrandt had just three techniques for printmaking: dry point; hard ground and soft ground. We now have around 20 techniques which can be used in combination. These include lift grounds, photo etching and transfers. This course focuses on individual support and development; to present possibilities, to progress your plans and your personal objectives.

Etching, Photo Etching and Relief Print (Studio Practice)

You will set your own learning goals and develop projects supported by a subject specialist tutor. You will develop competence, visual and technical skills to compile and produce personal work, perhaps for exhibition or for entry to higher education colleges. You will be offered one to one and group tutorials to direct your individual needs and build confidence. You will be encouraged to study independently by building on your awareness of historical and contemporary printmaking issues and practice.

Introduction to Printmaking (Beginner/Intermediate)

You will learn about and use a wide range of printmaking processes to produce your own original prints. Printmaking processes and techniques will include mono printing, etching, lino printing, dry point, soft-ground etching aquatint, and collagraph printing. You will begin to use a range of printmaking techniques to generate immediate creative results, extend your skills and develop your own ideas. New starters are welcome at any time of year.

Print Making and Etching From the Life Model (Studio Practice)

This course offers you an opportunity to translate your drawing skills into printmaking from a life model. You will be able work directly onto etching plates using hard or soft ground techniques, draw/paint directly onto acetate sheets to be translated into a photo etching or work directly onto paper. During this course you will have the opportunity to set your own personal objectives and focus on specific techniques or try out a range of new techniques.
