Free taster courses – please book via the Eventbrite link given. Places are limited and will be filled on a first-come-first served basis. These FREE taster courses are for learners aged 19 and over.

 

Life Painting – FREE Taster Course 

Discover your potential for painting the figure from observation in a supportive and stimulating atmosphere. This class helps you to expand on your experience of art making to learn about the range of painting technique and materials that can be used to respond to the exciting challenge of representing the human body.

You can then enrol onto our 10 week Life Painting course starting in January 2019 or a range of other courses relating to Art & Design.

Watercolour – FREE Taster Course

This is a chance to start exploring watercolour: have fun using colour washes, get expert guidance on some basic techniques. The perfect way to start using watercolour.

You can then enrol onto our 10 week Watercolour Skills and Techniques course starting in January 2019 or the Saturday course in April 2019. We also have a range of other courses relating to Art & Design.

Exploring Art – FREE Taster Course 

A practical journey of discovery, this taster is a great way to discover or expand your artistic practice. We will look at the work of a number of contemporary artists and then explore the themes addressed in a range of materials and processes. It’s time to get creative!

Cyanotype Christmas Card Workshop

Location : Kentish Town site, 7 Leighton PLace, NW5 2QL

You are invited to join us to make a small batch of A6 cyanotype Christmas cards. Come and learn about this distinctive photographic printing process and make some original cards for the Christmas season.

You can bring with you an image to use for your cards – this could be your own drawing or artwork. The tutor will help you to scale it to the right size if needs be.

Alternatively you can also bring a collection of flat (2D) objects like leaves, decorations or Christmas “shapes” to use to make the image for your cards.

Papermaking – free introductory taster

This fun, hands-on 3 hour session will introduce you to the art of Papermaking. Learn how to use recycled cotton pulp and other fibres and materials to form your own sheets of paper. Learn about creating different shapes, layering with colour, adding inclusions and embellishments, watermarks and embossing. All material provided.

Paper Marbling – free introductory tasters

Centuries-old art, Paper Marbling is a fun and creative way to decorate paper with stunning patterns. The free 3 hour session will introduce you to the tools, materials and techniques used in this craft and enable you to experiment with colours, inks and paints to create a variety of traditional and contemporary marbling designs. The course will also cover how to use your marbling papers to create unique simple books and stationery. All materials provided.
