Daytime and Evening Film and Video Courses at WMC-The Camden College
This Level 1 certified course provides a starting point for those wishing to begin their journey towards a creative career. It will introduce you to film and video production and provide learners with the skills and knowledge required to progress to further study related to film and digital industries, and ultimately to work in these areas. On successful completion of our Level 1 course you may be eligible to progress to our Level 2 Film and Video Production course starting in January.
This Level 2 certificated course is a two term programme during which you will learn different aspects of the Media world with a thorough grounding in Filmmaking. The programme will prepare you for further study in the subject or for employment in the industry. Through realistic, industry related projects you will create a range of digital film from first idea to finished product with a mixture of practical lessons and vocational projects that will give you the opportunity to develop your creative filmmaking skills. Topics include video production and editing, media specific research, preparation for employment using social media for promotion, and media industries.
Adobe Premiere is the editing software of choice available for filmmakers working on a PC or an Apple Mac computer platform. Mastering Adobe Premiere will open the door to editing, effects, sound and graphics. This course will lead you through the basics of using this powerful software package, working on practical, hands-on examples and exercises ensuring you benefit from practical experience and learn useful tips and tricks. No previous knowledge of Adobe Premiere is required.
On this course you will gain knowledge of the exciting world of Documentary Filmmaking. Through a series of illustrated lectures and discussions, as well as hands on video practice, you will be introduced to the style, form and structure of a constantly evolving visual story telling that documents and captures aspects of reality
In this hands-on course you will learn the art of storytelling through editing. Through the combination of lectures and hands on software practice, learners will gain knowledge of the work of an editor, post production workflow and various editing styles as well as media management and technical expertise used when taking a video projects from start to finish.
This 10 week course will introduce you to film/video production, from idea to final product. Learn how to create original video work through pre-production, production and post-production. The course will cover idea generation, production planning, shooting and editing for a short video project.

Over two Saturdays this hands-on beginner’s level film editing course teaches learners to perform editing functions, while becoming familiar with the user interface. No previous knowledge of Adobe Premiere is required.
Our two Saturday hands-on Beginners Final Cut Pro X Course familiarises participants with the user interface, teaches trainees to perform basic editing functions and how to work with new features including the Automatic Import features, Media Management and Improved Timeline. No previous knowledge of Final Cut is required, our course is designed for beginners and those with a little experience. This course will lead you through the basics of using this powerful software package, working on practical, hands on examples and exercises ensuring you benefit from practical experience and learn useful tips and tricks.
This 10-week course will introduce you to the essential elements and conventions of writing a short film screenplay including, but not limited to, character, structure, and tension. Through writing exercises and analysis of short films, learners will gain a set of tools for writing their own scripts: learning to write visually, working with character and conflict, and building narrative.
