Daytime & Evening Computing and Digital Skills Courses at WMC-The Camden College 


Award in Digital Skills Level 1  NEW

Building on your existing experience of using computers, this course will give you the skills to operate computers confidently, effectively and independently in education, work and everyday life. Increasingly, employers expect their staff to have a firm grounding in the basics of ICT and this qualification will give you the skills and confidence to use computers effectively in the workplace.

Digital Skills for Everyday (Beginner)

In a recent employer survey, 81% said they look for evidence of digital skills when recruiting. Improving your digital literacy is one of the most important steps you can take towards securing a job. This course will help develop the skills and confidence needed to search and apply for work.

Computer Skills for Improvers  NEW


ICT Functional Skills Entry 1

If you have very little or no experience of using computers, then this course will give you a good introduction to the basics. You will learn how to create posters and leaflets and how to email using Outlook.

ICT Functional Skills Entry 2

If you have some experience of using computers, then this course will increase your knowledge, skills and confidence in a supportive environment. Focusing on Word, the Internet and email, this qualification will get you started with using computers in a variety of settings, such as on other courses, or at work, at home, or in many aspects of your life.

ICT Functional Skills Entry 3

If you are already finding your way with computers but want to develop further, then this is the course for you. We will help you to build your skills and learn new techniques in a supportive environment. This course will not only give you greater confidence in using computers, but also a qualification that is recognised in the workplace.

Introduction to Microsoft Excel

On this course you will learn the basics of using Excel spreadsheets to manipulate data. This course is suitable for complete beginners and those with some experience of Excel who want to develop their skills. You will become confident in using very simple but effective techniques and learn, through the examples used in class, the potential of using spreadsheets in your day-to-day life or work.

Microsoft Excel – Intermediate

This course is for those who have completed the ‘Introduction to Microsoft Excel course’ or have some experience of using spreadsheets and want to further develop their skills. You will extend your knowledge and experience of spreadsheets, working on more complex tasks with the help of your tutor. Improving your Excel skills will help you be more effective at work and in your day-to-day life.

Microsoft Powerpoint – Intermediate

If you have mastered the basics of PowerPoint but want to increase the impact of your presentations, then this course is for you. Develop your skills by extending your knowledge of PowerPoint features on this course. Creating a PowerPoint presentation that is visually exciting and produced to a high standard, perhaps with images and video, will help you stand out from the crowd in your work or when applying for jobs!

Microsoft Word Intermediate

Continue learning how to format your documents in an efficient way in this intermediate course. You will use further features in Microsoft Word, such as styles, columns, and table of contents. This will help you when using Word for writing assignments in college, at work, and in your home life.

Using Mobile IT Devices

Are you making the most of your mobile phone or tablet computer? Would you like to discover more about your mobile device and how you can use it in your everyday life or for work? If so, then this course will give you the skills and confidence to navigate the virtual world, with practical advice on staying safe on-line. Ideal for beginners and those with some experience who want to find out more. This course is for users of Android (OS) based devices (smartphones/tablets).
