Book Binding and Book Arts (Mixed Level)

On this exciting, hands-on course you will be introduced to traditional and experimental Bookbinding through a series of projects designed to provide a good working knowledge of materials and techniques. You will develop skills in both the design and production of handmade books enabling you to go onto more complex bindings and develop your own work.

Paper Making (Beginners/Intermediate)

This fun, hands-on course will introduce you to the art of Papermaking. Learn how to use recycled cotton pulp and other fibres and materials to form your own sheets of paper. Experiment with creating different shapes, layering with colour, adding inclusions and embellishments, watermarks and embossing. At the end of the course, you will have a selection of your own handmade paper pieces.

Paper Marbling (Beginners/Intermediate)

A centuries-old art, Paper Marbling is a fun and creative way to decorate paper with stunning patterns. The course will take you through the history of marbling, introduce you to the tools, materials and techniques used in this craft and enable you to experiment with colours, inks and paints to create a variety of traditional and contemporary marbling designs.

The Art of Paper: Folding, Pleating and Manipulation

Paper is an inexpensive sculptural material. Pliable and easily folded, pleated, cut and manipulated with simple tools. Three-dimensional shapes from simple to complex and can be useful for artists, architects, fashion designers and milliners. Learn some key basic techniques − hand folding, scoring and manipulation. The sessions will also cover tools and types of paper best suited for this art form. Please note we do not cover paper engineering for pop-up books.
