This is an ideal introductory course if you want to work with vulnerable adults in recognised care settings or informally for family members but need to improve your written or spoken English. Over the term, you will learn about the adult social care sector, the role of the care worker, the values and principles of adult social care. You will also have an introduction to communication skills required for working in care. You will feel passionate about working with vulnerable adults but may have little experience of doing so.
If you are looking to train as a care worker with vulnerable adults, then this course is ideal for you. This course will help you to develop knowledge and understanding about working with vulnerable adults aged 19 and over who may have a range of needs from learning disability to dementia. You will study nine mandatory units which include communication skills, health and safety, safeguarding, person centred care, the adult social care sector and your own personal development as a care worker. The course is an excellent preparation for voluntary or paid work in care, as well as providing a step up to study at Level 3.
