Zumba

Course Description

The course provides a lower impact version of Zumba which will still give you the moves to worldwide beats and up the tempo of your week in a social and fun session. However, it will be in a gentler and more accessible way. All levels welcome but especially suitable for older or less fit learners.

Location: Camden

Course Requirements

The course is for beginners and those with some experience of Zumba and dance based exercise. You will also be expected to complete an Individual Learning Plan to help support your progress.

You also need to bring appropriate clothing e.g. trainers and comfortable, light clothing.

Course Content

You will learn dance moves that focus on the hips and mid-section to strengthen your core. This also promotes flexibility and aerobic fitness. The course is low intensity so it is suitable for individuals who have a lower level of fitness and flexibility.


Please note: although you will be introduced to all the above over a single course (5 - weeks), the sessions are developmental over the whole year. If you sign up for the full set of courses at the start of the academic year e.g. August / September you will be entitled to the early bird discount.

Teaching and Learning Methods

You will learn and develop your fitness through:

Dance workouts
Listening and watching demonstrations
Discussion
Continuous assessment

Independent Learning

There is no homework associated with these sessions.

Assessment

You will be continually assessed through your practical activities and will receive feedback in a variety of ways e.g. peer assessment, verbal and written feedback from your teacher.

Qualification you will achieve

This is a non-accredited course but a certificate of completion can be provided by the College on request.

Next Steps and Progression

The courses may give you the confidence to pursue Zumba classes that are higher intensity or other forms of physical exercise that are appropriate for your needs.

Additional Learning Support

Teachers are supported to ensure their materials are inclusive to meet all learners needs. Provision of assistive equipment is available and access support can be provided through reasonable adjustments, subject to an assessment by the ALS team and/or the Disability Officer. Digital Learning support is available in the Learning Centre at our Camden site. Careers advice and guidance is also available to all learners.
