NCFE CACHE Level 1 Award in Caring for Children

Course Description

This is an ideal course if you want to work with children as a teaching assistant in school, or as a support worker in early years or nursery settings. You will feel passionate about working with children but may have little experience of doing so. On this course, you will learn about communicating with children, how children develop, how to work inclusively with children by promoting equality and diversity, and also how to plan activities with children.

Course Requirements

No prior knowledge in childcare is required. You will need a qualification in English and Maths at Entry Level 3 or Level 1 (equivalent to GCSE at D-G or Entry Level 3 or Level 1 Functional Skills) Some knowledge of IT would be useful as work includes internet research, preparing reports using Word and emailing attachments. A placement in an early years setting is desirable.

Course Content

There will be a total of 4 units for this course and you must complete all written and practical tasks in order to pass. This will demonstrate your knowledge and understanding.

Teaching and Learning Methods

Wednesday in college and Thursday online. Teaching methods are varied and include lecture, discussion, group work, field trips, video, presentations and role play. All resources used within each lesson are available on Google Classroom. In addition to the classes you will be expected to do at least three hours of home study per week.

Independent Learning

In addition to the classes you will be expected to do at least three hours of home study per week.

Assessment

Your work will be marked by your tutor who will give you constructive feedback on how to improve. You will have the opportunity to have regular one-to-one tutorials with your tutor to discuss your learning. Completion of this course will give you Level 1 Award in Caring for Children. The awarding body is NCFE Cache
