Make a Teapot on the Potters Wheel (Intermediate/ Advanced)

Course Description

A 3-day workshop for intermediate/advanced learners who already have some experience of using the potter's wheel. The course will cover creating the teapot and lid on the wheel, making handles, finishing and decorating work. The course includes basic materials and firing of work, but you will need to pay for clay using our token system – an estimated £10 depending on the size of item. Spaces are limited by the number of wheels.

Course Requirements

Suitable for Intermediate and Advanced levels. Not suitable for Beginners.

Course Content

Design teapot forms referencing samples and visual references.
Make a variety of bodies, lids, spouts and handles using the techniques demonstrated.

Assemble and join component parts to create different teapots using techniques demonstrated.

Apply surface decoration and glaze to enhance form and make it a usable item.

Record stages of making and decorating using notes and photographs for future reference.

Adhere to H&S guidelines throughout process.

Teaching and Learning Methods

Presentations and looking at samples and relevant designers / makers using the internet and books.

All materials and equipment provided but clay needs to be paid for separately.
