Logic Pro is a stand-alone music application with all the tools you need to create professional quality music tracks. The course will show you how to record, arrange and edit audio and MIDI regions, add effects, mix your music and export the final mix in a variety of formats. This is for everyone who wishes to use computer technology to record, create, produce and master their own music. If you have a passion for creating, writing or re-mixing all types of music, this course is for you.

Course Requirements
For this course you will need some computing skills (either on a PC or MAC) and some musical ability, which would be useful but not essential. The course is also suitable for continuing learners in this subject. You will also be expected to complete an Individual Learning Plan to help support your progress.
Course Content
This course is a fun and dynamic introduction to the process of making and recording music using an Apple Mac computer and Logic Pro. It will challenge you if you are keen to explore the more complex possibilities whilst always offering high quality, instant results if you are just up for some fun and experimentation. You will be introduced to re-mixing, sequencing, recording techniques, audio sampling, live recording, beat matching, MIDI techniques and drum programming. Please note - although you will be introduced to all the above over a single term (10-weeks), the course is developmental over the whole year. If you sign up for the full three terms (courses A, B and C) at the start of the academic year e.g. August / September you will be entitled to the early bird discount.
Teaching and Learning Methods
You will learn through, practical activities, group exercises and peer assessment, listening and analysis, demonstration and discussion, use of supporting online materials, individual practice, use of ILT and continuous assessment. There is no homework associated with the sessions but please do discuss extension activities with your tutor.
Independent Learning
In addition to the classes you will be expected to work independently to develop your knowledge of Logic, music production and digital music making skills. The focus should be on practical music making / music production but should also include your own research to help develop this. The College provides access to computers with the relevant software in the Library and the Learning Centre.
Assessment
You will be continually assessed through your practical activities and will receive feedback in a variety of ways such as peer assessment, verbal and written feedback from your teacher. This is a non-accredited course but a certificate of completion can be provided by the College on request.
