Who is this course for and what will I learn?
This is a mixed ability course, and learners with any levels of knowledge and experience are welcome. Basic materials provided including model, clay and firing. Please note that we are not able to fire work that is not made in college. You are not allowed to bring in work from home or elsewhere, even if the clay originated in college. You cannot bring in your own clay to use and must use the clays we provide. Should you wish to use different clays, you can buy specialist clays e.g. black clay, porcelain from the tutor via our internal payment system. If you are interested in a specialist technique not listed or described in the course description, please contact ArtsSchool@wmcollege.ac.uk before enrolling to find out if it is possible for us to accommodate this.
A 5-week course with the life model, exploring the use of clay to create 3 dimensional figures. For the 1st session, we will have short exploration of key tools and techniques used for life sculpture, and then move onto working from the model. In the middle 3 sessions, we will work entirely from the model with one-to-one assistance from the tutor with additional demonstrations where necessary. In the final session, we will hollow out, glaze and add finishing touches to our sculptures or practice our technique with some detail studies. All material provided.
