This course is for anyone interested in exploring textiles in a creative and supportive environment. It is suitable for beginners starting their journey as well as those returning to refresh their skills.

You do not need any previous experience, just an interested in craft, design or wish to experiment with materials and processes.
The course suits learners who enjoy hands on making and want to develop confidence in their creative practice, ideal if you are new to textiles or would like to build on existing knowledge at a comfortable pace.

You will learn a range of practical textile techniques through hands on studio sessions inspired by global traditions and contemporary practice.

By the end of the course you will be able to:

- explore processes such as dye, stitch, embroidery, felting and fabric construction
- develop your understanding of textiles skills and techniques
- build confidence in using textiles materials, tools and techniques and learn how to combine them creatively
- create a finished personal project and apply your skills to new ideas

You will learn through practical hands on sessions that introduce new textiles techniques and projects.

Sessions are designed to be engaging, helping you develop your sewing skills and creative confidence.
Content include handouts, demonstrations, guided exercises and one to one support.

Towards the end of the course you will develop your own personal textile project applying the techniques and approaches you have learned.

This course takes place in a dedicated Fashion and textiles studio at WM College in Camden, London. You will have access to:

- A large Fashion studio
- Shared equipment and specialist teaching resources
- A supportive and collaborative studio environment
- Small class sizes - up to 12 learners

A range of materials is available in the studio, but you are encouraged to bring your own materials to support a more individual approach to your work. Your tutor will advise on suitable materials and recommend options based on your developing projects.

Assessment is informal and integrated throughout the course through practical making and ongoing tutor feedback. You will be guided step by step as you develop your work, with demonstrations, guided exercises, and one-to-one support to help you build confidence and complete your work.


By the end of the course, you will have developed an understanding of key patchwork techniques, improved your practical skills, and created a finished project you can feel proud of.

This course can be taken as a stand alone experience or you can continue across multiple terms to build your skills knowledge and confidence over time.
