Italian - Intermediate Part 3

Course Description

Continue improving your Italian and exploring the Italian culture on this communicative course. You will consolidate your ability to use different tenses and pronouns and you will be introduced to the passive voice. You will discuss simple literary texts, further developing your reading and speaking skills by reading and commenting on a novel in class (easy reader). On completion of this course, you can progress onto Upper Intermediate Italian pt1 (B1/2).

Course Requirements

You will need to have completed the course Intermediate Italian pt2 (B1) or to be assessed as having achieved an equivalent level by our specialist staff.

Course Content

This course will continue improving your listening, speaking, reading and writing skills and will introduce new grammar challenges such as the passive voice and indirect speech. In particular, you will learn how to communicate effectively through different media, including telephone calls, text messages, and social media. By the end of the course, you will also be able to read a book review and express your opinion about books.

Teaching and Learning Methods

In this course you will be actively learning Italian through a variety of interactive classroom activities, in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. You will work in pairs/small groups to practice speaking and listening, with worksheets and activities to develop your reading and writing. Learning will be enriched through the use of audio-visual aids, realia (authentic material), online interactive resources, and role play. You will reinforce vocabulary and strucutres previously learnt through the reading of a novel (easy reader). Resources used within each lesson are available for learners on our online learning platform, Google Classroom. The skills you are learning should be practices outside college in order to develop and progress. Homework is set every week and is an essential part of your course.

Assessment

Assessment is continuous and will take place throughout the course. The tutor will give you feedback on your speaking in class, and mark your written work. During the course, you will set up an individual learning plan, where you will reflect on your progress and set your own targets. There is no formal qualification attached to this course but you can receive a Certificate of Completion from the college on request.

Next Steps and Progression

Following successful completion of this course, you can progress onto Upper Intermediate Italian pt1 (B1/2) in the new term.

Teachers are supported to ensure their materials are inclusive to meet all learners needs.
