Intermediate German pt3 (A2/B1)

Course Description

A class for improvers in the German language. On this course you will learn to communicate confidently, socialise and not feel out of place in the country you are visiting. By discussing topics such as business cultures and Germany in the past and present, you will expand your vocabulary to include some colloquial language and you will learn more about life in Germany.

Course Content

Using previous knowledge, you will work on extended sentence structures, develop fluency and expand your vocabulary. Topics will include the world of work, holiday destinations and health and fitness. By the end of the course you will be able to talk about work related topics, express wishes and dreams and express and justify your opinion, both orally and in writing. Grammar points to be covered are the subjunctive and relative clauses. There is an emphasis on good pronunciation throughout this course.

Teaching and Learning Methods

In this course you will be actively learning German through a variety of interactive classroom activities, in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. You will work in pairs/small groups to practice speaking and listening, with worksheets and activities to develop your reading and writing. Learning will be enriched through the use of audio-visual aids, realia (authentic material), online interactive resources, and role play. Coursebook to be advised. Additional resources used within each lesson are available for learners on our online learning platform, Microsoft Teams.

Independent Learning

The skills you are learning should be practiced outside college in order to develop and progress. Homework is set every week and is an essential part of your course.


Assessment is continuous and will take place throughout the course.
The tutor will give you feedback on your speaking in class, and mark your written work. During the course, you will set up an individual learning plan, where you will reflect on your progress and set your own targets.

Qualification you will achieve

There is no formal qualification attached to this course but you can receive a Certificate of Completion from the college on request.

Teachers are supported to ensure their materials are inclusive to meet all learners needs. Provision of assistive equipment is available and access support can be provided through reasonable adjustments, subject to an assessment by the ALS team and/or the Disability Officer. Digital Learning support is available in the Learning Centre at our Camden site. Careers advice and guidance is also available to all learners.

Additional Costs

WM College provides all the basic materials and equipment you will need to complete the course. Your tutor will advise you where you can buy materials or equipment to extend your study, should you wish. The College also provides additional financial support through the Discretionary Learner Support Fund (DLSF); however there are eligibility criteria that applies. Please refer to the DLSF policy which can be found at the main reception.
