ICT Functional Skills Entry 2

Course Description

If you have some experience of using computers, then this course will increase your knowledge, skills and confidence in a supportive environment. Focusing on Word, the Internet and email, this qualification will get you started with using computers in a variety of settings, such as on other courses, or at work, at home, or in many aspects of your life.

Location: Online Course

Course Content

This course combines the use of Word, the Internet and email. Students will research the Internet using keywords to find information, use bookmarks and learn to download files from the Internet. You will create poster and flyers with images and use email to send your work to your tutor.

Teaching and Learning Methods

There will be demonstrations on a SmartBoard and you will follow set exercises as practise. You will have past papers from Edexcel to help you revise for the assignment.

Independent Learning

In addition to the classes you will be expected to do some additional work between sessions to consolidate and extend your learning. Tutors will advise on activities for you to follow to ensure you maximise your progress on the course.


There will be continual assessment during the course as well as a final assessment for the certificate.

Qualification you will achieve

On the successful completion of the assignment, you will achieve the ICT Functional Skills Entry 2 certificate.

Additional Learning Support

Additional Learning Support (ALS) is available for this course. ALS is subject to an assessment with a trained member of staff and support may include one or more of the following: support in the classroom, out of class workshops such as literacy, ICT and maths and specialist support for dyslexia. Provision of assistive equipment is also available and access support can be provided through reasonable adjustments with our Disability Officer. Teachers are supported to ensure their materials are inclusive to meet all learners needs. Digital Learning support is available in the Learning Centre at our Camden site. Careers advice and guidance is also available to all learners.

Additional Costs

WM College provides all the basic materials and equipment you will need to complete the course. Your tutor will advise you where you can buy materials or equipment to extend your study, should you wish. The College also provides additional financial support through the Discretionary Learner Support Fund (DLSF); however there are eligibility criteria that applies. Please refer to the DLSF policy which can be found at the main reception.
