This qualification develops the basic skills needed to care for a baby or young child and is aimed as anyone who wants to develop parenting and life skills. It is particularly targeted at those who have English as an additional language, as you will be learning contextual terminology specific to jobs in Childcare.
Learners should be working at Entry 3 English and have a good level of digital skills, particularly word processing
The course will cover topics such as, play and learning in the home, routines and health eating. You will also be developing your subject specific language skills.
Teaching and Learning Methods
Teaching methods are varied and include discussion, group work, case studies, presentations, and practical tasks. All resources used within each lesson will be available on our Virtual Learning Portal. You will be taught by a Childcare tutor and an ESOL tutor.
Your assignments will be marked by your tutor who will give you constructive feedback on how to improve. You are expected to complete a portfolio of written evidence to show your knowledge and understanding.

Additional Learning Support
Additional Learning Support (ALS) is available for this course and is subject to an assessment with a member of our support staff. ALS may include one or more of the following: support in classes, out of class in small groups, workshops or 1:1 with a specialist tutor.
