Course Requirements
You will need to have completed the course Elementary Spanish pt2 (A2) or to be assessed as having achieved an equivalent level by our specialist staff.
Course Content
By the end of this course, you will be able to make arrangements, talk about dreams and ambitions, give advice, extract information from short pieces of news, and make short presentations describing objects. Adjustments will be made to meet students needs and interests.
Teaching and Learning Methods
In this course you will be actively learning Spanish through a variety of interactive classroom activities, in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. You will work in pairs/small groups to practice speaking and listening, with worksheets and activities to develop your reading and writing. Learning will be enriched through the use of audio-visual aids, realia (authentic material), online interactive resources, and role play. In particular, you will develop your reading and speaking skills by discussing authentic news articles from Spanish-speaking countries. Resources used within each lesson are available for learners on our online learning platform, Google Classroom. The skills you are learning should be practices outside college in order to develop and progress. Homework is set every week and is an essential part of your course.

Assessment
Assessment is continuous and will take place throughout the course. The tutor will give you feedback on your speaking in class, and mark your written work. During the course, you will set up an individual learning plan, where you will reflect on your progress and set your own targets. On completion of this course, you can expect to achieve Level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. There is no formal qualification attached to this course but you can receive a Certificate of Completion from the college on request. You will be awarded a college Certificate of Attendance and Achievement.

Next Steps and Progression
Following successful completion of this course, you can progress onto Intermediate Spanish pt1 (B1) in the new term.

Additional Learning Support
Teachers are supported to ensure their materials are inclusive to meet all learners needs.
