A class for improvers in the French language. Using previous knowledge, you will work on basic sentence structures and develop fluency and vocabulary. You will become more confident in using the present and past tenses. On completion of this course, you can progress onto Elementary French pt2 (A2).

Course Requirements
You will need to have completed the course Beginners French pt3 (A1) or have achieved Level A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Course Content
During this course you will consolidate previous knowledge of the language by working on basic sentence structures. You will develop fluency and vocabulary and use a wider range of tenses and verb forms, including the imperfect tense. By the end of the course, you will be able to describe and compare accommodation; give rules (say what is compulsory or forbidden); express more complex opinions and preferences; make comparisons; and tell a friend about a past trip or holiday. There is an emphasis on good pronunciation throughout this course.
Teaching and Learning Methods
In this course you will be actively learning French through a variety of interactive classroom activities, in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. You will work in pairs/small groups to practice speaking and listening, with worksheets and activities to develop your reading and writing. Learning will be enriched through the use of audio-visual aids, realia (authentic material), online interactive resources, and role play. Resources used within each lesson are available for learners on our online learning platform, Google Classroom. The skills you are learning should be practiced outside college in order to develop and progress. Homework is set every week and is an essential part of your course.

Assessment
Assessment is continuous and will take place throughout the course. The tutor will give you feedback on your speaking in class, and mark your written work. During the course, you will set up an individual learning plan, where you will reflect on your progress and set your own targets. There is no formal qualification attached to this course but you can receive a Certificate of Completion from the college on request.
