Crochet Workshop (Beginners/Intermediate)

Course Description

This course will give you a broad introduction to the traditional and re-emerging craft of Crochet. Beginners will explore Crochet through learning its basic principles, through crafting, designing and constructing a purse or bag. You will learn about a wide variety of yarns and finishing techniques, as well as using professional terminology. Improvers in this day class will use their existing Crochet knowledge to read patterns, and make a variety of traditional granny squares.

Course Content

BBeginners will learn the basics stitches of crochet, along with a variety of textured techniques, and finishing techniques. This course will give you everything you require to complete a project and give you the skills to embark on your own venture!

If you have crocheted before, in this class you will be modernising the traditional and infamous granny square technique by exploring adventurous colour palettes and scale.

Teaching and Learning Methods

You will have an individual learning plan, to which you can add personal aims. You will work at your own pace and your progress will be reviewed regularly. At the end of the course, you will receive feedback on your achievements and the tutor can advise you on next steps.

Resources used within each lesson are available for students on the online learning platform, iLearn.

Independent Learning

There is no formal homework, however, your tutor may discuss ideas with you individually to help extend your study and for ongoing independent projects. Your tutor will also recommend exhibitions, gigs or websites for you to visit to enrich your study.


There is no exam or formal assessment for this course. However, you will work with your tutor to identify your aims at the beginning of the session and will receive one to one feedback throughout as well as sharing outcomes at the end of the course.

Qualification you will achieve

There is no formal qualification attached to this course but you can receive a Certificate of Completion from the college on request.
