Creative Writing: Life Stories Workshop

Course Description

Learn how to transform your experiences and memories into stories that will resonate with your readers. Everyone has a story to tell. Explore the various ways to approach life writing in this practical half-day course. Suitable for all levels of experience.

Location: Camden

Course Requirements

You will need a good level of written English, at least GCSE level.

Course Content

This taster course will introduce you to ways of writing and recording memories and experiences. We will explore various examples of life writing. This will be followed by writing exercises. You will be able to write and receive feedback in a supportive atmosphere and learn some essential principles of good writing technique. In the final part of the session everyone will be invited to read aloud from their work.

Teaching and Learning Methods

Practical written work; reading and discussion; and groupwork.


There is no exam or formal assessment for this course. However, you will complete an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) which will outline the learning objectives for the course. You will also be invited to set your own goals. You will receive feedback against the achievement of these outcomes during the course from your tutor, and in written form at the end of the course. There is no formal qualification attached to this course but you can receive a Certificate of Completion from the college on request.

Teachers are supported to ensure their materials are inclusive to meet all learners needs.
