Computer Skills: Intermediate Level

Course Description

If you already have some experience of using computers and want to develop further, this course will give you greater confidence in using Microsoft Office Applications, Office 365 and video calling tools.

Location: Camden

Course Requirements

You should have first completed the Computer Skills for Improvers course. Alternatively, you should be able to use the basic features of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft PowerPoint.

Course Content

On this course you will discover and master more advanced features of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft PowerPoint. For example, by the end of the course, you will be able to create a brochure using Word, create a spreadsheet for everyday and work use with Excel, embed a video in a PowerPoint presentation, organise emails into folders on Outlook and set reminders. You will also learn how to confidently navigate OneDrive to store and share your files. You will learn how to use different video calling systems (Microsoft Teams and Google Meet), scheduling and hosting meetings, navigating the calendar, screen sharing, and setting up a virtual background.

Teaching and Learning Methods

The course will be delivered using a range of teaching and learning methods which include demonstrations, video tutorials, independent work online from home and homework. Learning will take place mainly onsite (in the classroom) and also online (from home). In addition to the classes, you will be expected to do some additional work between sessions to consolidate and extend your learning.

Assessment

There is no exam or formal assessment for this course. However, you will work with your tutor to identify your aims at the beginning of the session and will receive one to one feedback throughout as well as sharing outcomes at the end of the course. There is no formal qualification attached to this course, but you can receive a Certificate of Completion from the college on request.

Teachers are supported to ensure their materials are inclusive to meet all learners needs.
