Cloud for Beginners

Course Description

Take the first steps in learning about the power of using Cloud computing services, what Cloud actually is and how you can benefit from its accessibility. You will be introduced to various Cloud application that will give you a fun hands-on experience. Although the learning will primarily take place using PCs, the course will also include an introduction to accessing the Cloud on other smart devices.

? What Cloud actually is
? Key aspects of Cloud
? How to access Cloud
? How to upload/download pictures and documents to and from the Cloud
? Manage documents and photos in the Cloud
? Access them from your various devices
? Share photos and collaborate on documents
? Use some of the other Cloud based applications such as Maps, Translate and ways to locate lost or stolen smart devices

? Projects and Exercises

Resources used within each lesson are available for learners on our online learning platform, Google Classroom.

Independent Learning

In addition to the classes, you will be expected to do some homework to practise your skills.

Assessment

There is no exam or formal assessment for this course. However, you will work with your tutor to identify your aims at the beginning of the session and will receive one to one feedback throughout as well as sharing outcomes at the end of the course.

Qualification you will achieve

There is no formal qualification attached to this course, but you can receive a Certificate of Completion from the college on request.

Additional Learning Support

Teachers are supported to ensure their materials are inclusive to meet all learners needs. Provision of assistive equipment is available and access support can be provided through reasonable adjustments, subject to an assessment by the ALS team and/or the Disability Officer. Digital Learning support is available in the Learning Centre at our Camden site. Careers advice and guidance is also available to all learners.

Additional Costs

WM College provides all the basic materials and equipment you will need to complete the course. Your tutor will advise you where you can buy materials or equipment to extend your study, should you wish. The College also provides additional financial support through the Discretionary Learner Support Fund (DLSF); however there are eligibility criteria that applies. Please refer to the DLSF policy which can be found at the main reception.
