You will need to have completed the course Beginners Italian pt2 (A1) or to be assessed as having achieved an equivalent level by our specialist staff.

This course will consolidate grammar, vocabulary, and structures learnt previously, and will introduce new challenges such as the past tense and reflexive verbs. In particular, by the end of the course, you will be able to say what you do in typical day, describe (and comment on) the weather, and talk about what you did at the week-end. Your pronunciation and your spelling will have improved too.

In this course you will be actively learning Italian through a variety of interactive classroom activities, in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. You will work in pairs/small groups to practice speaking and listening, with worksheets and activities to develop your reading and writing. Learning will be enriched through the use of audio-visual aids, realia (authentic material), online interactive resources, and role play. Resources used within each lesson are available for learners on our online learning platform, Google Classroom. The skills you are learning should be practiced outside college in order to develop and progress. Homework is set every week and is an essential part of your course.

Assessment is continuous and will take place throughout the course. The tutor will give you feedback on your speaking in class, and mark your written work. During the course, you will set up an individual learning plan, where you will reflect on your progress and set your own targets. On completion of this course, you can expect to achieve Level A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. There is no formal qualification attached to this course but you can receive a Certificate of Completion from the college on request.

Following successful completion of this course, you can progress onto Elementary Italian pt1 (A2) in the new term.
