French - Beginners Part 3

Course Description

This course continues to introduce the French language and culture. You will expand your vocabulary to hold more in-depth conversations, including use and understanding of past and future tense. On completion of this course, you can progress onto Elementary French pt1 (A2).

Course Requirements

You will need to have completed the course Beginners French pt2 (A1) or to be assessed as having achieved an equivalent level by our specialist staff.

Course Content

This course will reinforce and extend previous grammar (including use of the present, future and past tenses) and develop your vocabulary. By the end of the course you will be able to discuss daily activities, tell the time in French and make plans with a friend; you will also be able to describe people and talk about your family. There will be an introduction to the past tense. Your pronunciation will also be improving with practice.

Teaching and Learning Methods

In this course you will be actively learning French through a variety of interactive classroom activities, in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. You will work in pairs/small groups to practice speaking and listening, with worksheets and activities to develop your reading and writing. Learning will be enriched through the use of audio-visual aids, realia (authentic material), online interactive resources, and role play. Resources used within each lesson are available for learners on our online learning platform, Google Classroom. The skills you are learning should be practices outside college in order to develop and progress. Homework is set every week and is an essential part of your course.

Assessment

Assessment is continuous and will take place throughout the course. The tutor will give you feedback on your speaking in class, and mark your written work. During the course, you will set up an individual learning plan, where you will reflect on your progress and set your own targets. On completion of this course, you can expect to achieve Level A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. There is no formal qualification attached to this course but you can receive a Certificate of Completion from the college on request. You will be awarded a college Certificate of Attendance and Achievement.
