Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign (Mixed Level)

Course Description

This course is about learning all the basics of how to use Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, the three main programs used by graphic designers for print. Gain experience with the different software and learn how they can be integrated in your projects while you explore a variety of design techniques and concepts. The course is taught on Apple Macs but skills learnt can be applied to Windows PCs.

Course Requirements

You need no previous experience of the software to attend this course. It will be an advantage if you have some computer experience, particularly on Apple Macs, but it is not necessary.

Course Content

Fundamentals of InDesign, photoshop and Illustrator for print, illustrator and InDesign integration, composition, colour, texture and pattern editing Raster images with Photoshop, using Photoshop to repair, enhance and combine images into photomontages, vector graphics and illustration with Illustrator, using Illustrator to create illustrations, graphics, logos and patterns, page layout and design with InDesign, using InDesign to layout pages, create multi-page documents and compile projects, saving text styles and wrapping text around images and saving and exporting work to different file formats.

Teaching and Learning Methods

Teaching and learning methods will be comprised of; technical demonstrations of all skills followed by practical skills practice and sample production. Guided Discovery through pattern design exploration. Peer Support with pattern design development collaborations. One to one tutoring and class discussions. Resources used within each lesson are available for learners on our online learning platform, iLearn. In addition to the classes, you will be expected to allocate time to practice technical skills between classes and carry out research to aid in youre pattern design development.

Independent Learning

In addition to the classes, you will be expected to allocate time to practice technical skills between classes and carry out research to aid in you're pattern design development.

Assessment

Learners will be assessed through the tutor observation of learners skill development throughout the course. Assessment of completed technical skills. Evaluation of shared learning outcomes during and at the end of the course. On completion of this course, you will achieve a certificate of your attendance onto the course.

If you would like to develop your skills further and gain a comprehensive understanding of techniques you should enroll in all three terms as each term covers different content and the skill level progressively increases.
