- Are interested in media, storytelling or content creation
- Are exploring creative or career pathways in video production

This is a beginner-level course. You do not need previous experience in video editing. Basic computer skills are recommended, and confidence using a camera to record video is helpful. Teaching takes place on Mac computers, and your tutor will guide you step by step throughout the course.
On this course, you will learn how to:
- Import, organise and manage video footage
- Edit clips into structured sequences using the timeline
- Add transitions, titles and visual effects
- Adjust audio levels, music and sound effects
- Apply basic colour correction techniques

How will I learn?
You will learn through practical, hands-on sessions at WM College in Camden, London. Lessons include demonstrations, guided exercises and individual project work. Class sizes are small to support personalised feedback. Your tutor will provide clear, step-by-step instruction to help you build confidence and develop your editing skills.
You do not need to bring specialist equipment for this course. WM College provides access to Mac computers and Adobe Premiere Pro during sessions.
You may wish to bring a notebook and a storage device to save your work. If you want to practise outside class, your tutor can advise you on suitable Adobe software options, but this is optional.
Most equipment and software are provided during sessions.
You may choose to subscribe to Adobe Creative Cloud to continue practising at home. Students may be eligible for discounted rates. Any additional costs are optional and will be explained by your tutor, but they are not required to complete the course.
Assessment and next steps
Assessment is continuous and based on practical work completed during the course. You will complete editing exercises and a short video project that demonstrates your progress.
You will receive feedback through peer review and from your tutor, both verbally and in writing. Assessment is supportive and designed to build confidence. This is a non-accredited course, with a certificate of completion available on request.
By the end of the course, you will:
- Develop practical video editing skills using Premiere Pro
- Gain confidence in producing finished video content
- Complete a short edited video project
- Understand basic post-production workflows
There is no required work outside class. You may choose to practise your editing skills between sessions. Your tutor will provide guidance if you want to continue developing your projects independently.
After completing this course, you can progress to higher-level video editing and production courses at WM College, including Level 2 Film and Television or specialist post-production courses.
You may also explore Adobe After Effects for visual effects or DaVinci Resolve for colour grading and advanced workflows. These pathways support progression into content creation, filmmaking and freelance media work.
WM College offers careers advice and guidance to help you plan your next steps, including portfolio development and progression into creative industries.
