Adobe Photoshop (Beginners)

Course Description

Adobe Photoshop is the software of choice for professionals working with digital images. The course covers all Photoshop features for compositing and collaging images, working with selections, layers and channels and using Photoshop filters. You will edit, enhance and combine existing imagery to create montages, collages and photo-realistic images.

Course Requirements

This course is for beginners to Photoshop but you will need to be confident using a computer to open, close and save files. You will need to be able to use a mouse and browse the internet. This course is taught on Macs, but the Photoshop software is the same on a PC and Mac. You will also be expected to complete an Individual Learning Plan to help support your progress.

Course Content

During this course you will be able to, add shapes to artwork, add text to artwork, cut out images from their background, apply effects to images and text, use layers to create artwork from images, shapes and text.

Teaching and Learning Methods

You will learn through, practical activities, group exercises and peer assessment, listening and analysis, demonstration and discussion, use of supporting online materials, individual practice, use of ILT and continuous assessment. There is no homework associated with the sessions but please do discuss extension activities with your tutor.

Assessment

You will be continually assessed through your practical activities and will receive feedback in a variety of ways e.g. peer assessment, verbal and written feedback from your teacher.

Next Steps and Progression

Once you have completed the course, you may choose to enrol on a further term in this subject or another subject in the creative arts. Advice and Guidance for all further study is available from the Curriculum Manager by request.

This course is not eligible for Additional Learning Support (ALS), however teachers are supported to ensure their materials are inclusive to meet all learners needs.??Reasonable adjustments including assistive equipment and also access support can be made available through our Disability Officer.?
