Acting and drama: writing for stage and screen
Course Overview
This course will develop your skills in structuring stories and creating characters for plays, films and television. You will explore writing in different mediums and formats, analysing a range of scripts and screenplays, as well as have the opportunity to focus on a specific genre of storytelling that interests you. By the end of the course, you will have created a one page pitch document and a treatment or the first ten pages of a play, film or television script.

Who is this course for and what will I learn?
You do not need any specific experience to do this course apart from basic reading and writing skills in English. The course will benefit anyone interested in learning more ways to tell stories effectively. Classes will include exercises in writing techniques, seminars analysing scripts, teacher input, practical writing tasks and opportunities for peer to peer feedback.
How will I learn?
You will learn through practical activities, taking part in group work, analysing scripts and screenplays, teacher input through talks and presentations, demonstration and discussion, and use of supporting online materials. You will work on an individual project.

Assessment and next steps
Your work will receive feedback in a variety of ways, including verbal and written feedback from your teacher, and supportive peer feedback. To get the most out of the course, expect to dedicate some time to work on your scripts outside of lessons and complete writing exercises that will build your skills and confidence.
