Who is this course for and what will I learn?
This course is aimed at anyone wishing to explore acting and drama as a route to enhancing their personal development and wellbeing. No prior experience is needed. Course content will be decided at the start of each course, but typically each session will involve learners choosing a different topic as the basis for the day's improvisation work. It will involve starting with a general discussion around content and the chosen topic. It will then move on to group work games and warm-ups, leading to improvisation on the chosen topic. This will be followed by play reading where relevant, and discussion and feedback.
How will I learn?
You will learn through practical activities, group exercises and peer assessment, listening and analysis, demonstration and discussion, use of supporting online materials, individual practice, use of learning technologies and through continuous tutor feedback. There is no homework associated with the sessions, but please do discuss extension activities with your tutor.
Assessment and next steps
You will be continually assessed through your practical activities and will receive feedback in a variety of ways such as peer assessment, and verbal and written feedback from your teacher. This is a non-accredited course, but a certificate of completion can be provided by the College on request. Once you have completed the course, you may choose to enrol on a further term in this subject or another subject.
