Access Award in Accounting Software Level 1

Course Description

This is the perfect starting point if you want to carry out basic finance and administrative duties using accounting software packages. During the course you will learn the benefits and risks of using accounting software to set up accounts, record bank and cash transactions, produce reports and gain confidence to seek - or enhance your - current employment. You do not require previous experience of accounting knowledge, although you will need an assessment if you wish to join the course.

Course Content

This course will introduce you to using accounting software and the main features of accounting software. You will learn how to set up accounts and how to record bank and cash transactions using accounting software. You will also develop the skills needed to produce a range of reports to meet business needs.

Teaching and Learning Methods

The teaching on this course will involve lectures, discussions and lots of worked examples. You will spend the majority of your time practising using a PC. Throughout the course, your tutor will give you verbal and written feedback on your progress towards the requirements of the qualification.

Independent Learning

The skills you are learning should be practised outside college so that you develop and progress.

Assessment

Students must successfully complete one end-of-qualification computer-based assessment to achieve this qualification.

Additional Learning Support

Additional Learning Support (ALS) is available for this course. ALS is subject to an assessment with a trained member of staff and support may include one or more of the following: support in the classroom, out of class workshops such as literacy, ICT and maths and specialist support for dyslexia. Provision of assistive equipment is also available and access support can be provided through reasonable adjustments with our Disability Officer. Teachers are supported to ensure their materials are inclusive to meet all learners needs. Digital Learning support is available in the Learning Centre at our Camden site. Careers advice and guidance is also available to all learners.

Additional Costs

WM College provides all the basic materials and equipment you will need to complete the course. Your tutor will advise you where you can buy materials or equipment to extend your study, should you wish. The College also provides additional financial support through the Discretionary Learner Support Fund (DLSF); however there are eligibility criteria that applies. Please refer to the DLSF policy which can be found at the main reception.
